Biography

Dr. Nour Shafik El-Gendy is Professor in the field of Petroleum and Environmental Biotechnology, Vice Head of Process Design & Development Department and former Head Manager of Petroleum Biotechnology Lab, Egyptian Petroleum Research Institute, Cairo, Egypt. She is an author of two chapters and three books in the fields of biofuels and petroleum biotechnology and hundred research papers in the fields of; oil pollution, bioremediation, biosorption, biofuels, macro- and micro-corrosion, green chemistry, wastewater treatment, biodesulfurization, biodenitrogenation and nano-bio-technology and its applications in petroleum industry and biofuels. Dr. El-Gendy is also an editor in thirty-one international journals and reviewer for sixty-nine international journals, in the field of; environmental biotechnology, bioenergy and petroleum microbiology and biotechnology, supervised twenty-six MSc and PhD thesis in the field of biofuels, micro-macro-fouling, bioremediation, nano-biotechnology, wastewater treatment, biodenitrogenation and biodesulfurization. Dr. El-Gendy participated in 37 international workshops and training courses, and 58 international conferences. Dr. El-Gendy is a member in many international associations concerned with petroleum industry, environmental health and sciences. She has also teaching experience; lecturer and supervisor for undergraduates' research projects at “Faculty of Biotechnology in Modern Sciences and Arts, MSA University, Egypt” (2007-2008), and Chemical Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering in; “The British University in Egypt BUE" and “Cairo University, Egypt” (2011-2013) and also taught Environmental Biotechnology course for post graduates at “Faculty of Science, Monufia University, Egypt” (2014-2015). Her biography is recorded in Who’s Who in Science and Engineering ninth edition 2006-2007. She is also the vice coordinator of the Scientific Research Committee, National Council for Women (NCW) in Egypt. She is an advisor for the Egyptian Minster of Environment, in the field of pollution caused by petroleum and chemical industries.
